Increasing Exposure Levels

The amount of everyday radiation we are exposed to has increased dramatically in the past decade.

This is driven by the increasing number of radiation generating products we are surrounded by and the increasing amount of time we spend with these products.  Over the past 10 years cell phones, PDAs, and music players have gone from practically non-existent to being in our pockets and bags near constantly. Additionally, with the rise of cable television and personal computers – the hours of exposure to these sources have been steadily growing both at home and at work.

It is impossible to say what the full health impact is from these unprecedented levels of radiation exposure.

Similar to smoking or sun exposure, the health risks from everyday radiation occur from extended exposure and rather than directly causing a health impact, they increase the probability of a health impact. This means that it takes time to understand fully what the health impacts of today’s levels of radiation exposure are – not necessarily because the health impacts take a long time to manifest; but because large populations must be studied over, sometimes long, periods of time to understand this causality.

Today, we have evidence that significant health risks may be associated with everyday radiation exposure.

Because of this, Belly Armor recommends taking precautionary measures during the most vulnerable developmental times – during pregnancy and early childhood – to protect against the health risks both known and unknown.
